On a sunny day, we laid our feast,
Picnic spread, so bright, so fine,
Sandwiches, fruit—oh, what a treat!
But lurking near, in shadows, the minds divine.
Tiny thieves with cunning hearts,
Planning mischief with a line so sly.
A bowl of goodies, pot brownies galore,
I turned my back, a moment of bliss,
When a battalion marched, bold and sure,
“Steal that stuff!” they declared with a hiss.
I spun around, but oh, what a sight,
Ants, like ninjas, gleeful in flight!
They grabbed the brownies, those crafty little bands,
With teamwork galore, they scuttled away,
I shouted, “Hey! Give back my snacks, hands!”
But ants are fast; they don’t often delay.
“What a buzzkill!” I laughed, half-amazed,
As they danced and pranced, all manner of crazed.
The picnic party laughed, it was quite surreal,
“Did we just witness an edible heist?”
The ants had a meal, we could hardly conceal,
As they gobbled our treats, oh my, what a feast!
We watched in awe as they scurried with glee,
“Next time,” I said, “I’ll bring traps—just for thee!”
As the sun began setting, we couldn’t complain,
Our joy wasn’t lost, not even a bit,
We toasted those ants with the wild, wild reign,
Thinking of how they outsmarted our wit.
A picnic so humorous, a tale we would tell,
Of ants and their heist, oh what a swell!
