In a zoo where the wild things roam,
There lived a zookeeper, far from home.
With a breakfast of brownies, he filled his plate,
And off to the zoo, he couldn’t wait!
He stumbled to the lions, feeling so free,
“Hello, my big cats! It’s just you and me!”
But the lions just yawned, in their golden lair,
While he danced like a monkey—without a care!
Next, he found penguins, all waddling about,
And thought, “They must chill. Let’s have a trout clout!”
With fish in his hands, he turned left and right,
Only to slip, and his catch took flight!
Now the fish were a-flying, with flecks of delight,
The penguins were cheering, “What a glorious sight!”
With giggles and splashes, they turned quite the show,
While our zookeeper laughed—what a way to go!
He wandered to gorillas, feeling quite grand,
And joined in their hooting, a wild, clumsy band.
“Let’s have a meeting!” he proclaimed with a grin,
But they just scratched their heads, “Where do we begin?”
As the sun dipped low, it was quite the spree,
A zookeeper’s wisdom, or so it would seem,
Was clouded by laughter, and all of the cheer,
So he waved to the animals, “See you next year!”
With a skip in his step, and a smile so wide,
He left that zoo—full of joy and pride.
For work may be serious, but every once in a while,
It’s good to let loose, and share a good smile!
