The Zookeeper's High Jinks

In the dawn’s soft glow, where the wild things roam,
A zookeeper stumbles, far from his home.
With eyes like saucers and a grin ear-to-ear,
He skips to the gate, oblivious to fear.

“Today’s the day I’ll make friends with a bear!”
He chuckles to himself, twisting up his hair.
But the penguins are plotting, with beaks all a-chatter,
“Is he really our keeper, or just puffing on scatter?”

He feeds the giraffes, but in a lyrical flow,
“Open wide, my tall friends! Let the veggies all grow!”
Each leaf is a cloud, each carrot a dream,
As they munch and they munch, joining in on his scheme.

The monkeys are swinging, their antics a thrill,
Yet our zookeeper laughs, as he climbs up the hill.
“Come, let’s share stories, I'll teach you to chat!”
But they hurl coconuts at him—no respect for a rat!

And there at the lion’s den, he stumbles, he sways,
“Who’s king of the jungle? Are we lost in a maze?”
The lions just yawn, then curl up for a nap,
As the zookeeper giggles, falling right in their lap.

As dusk settles softly, the workday draws near,
He waves bye to flamingos, his mind full of cheer.
With memories hazy, yet laughter so bright,
Tomorrow’s another day, with a wild, wacky flight!
