In a smoky room where the sunlight fades,
Competitors gathered in a hazy parade.
With pieces on boards, and munchies galore,
They pondered their moves, while craving much more.
“I’ll advance my knight!” said one dude with flair,
But he grabbed for his chips, not the piece in mid-air.
“I think you mean bishop!” a friend called out loud,
Then they both burst in laughter, feeling quite proud.
Time ticked away as they took heavy hits,
“Is the clock even moving?” one pondered in bits.
With every great move made, their minds took to flight,
And the rooks turned to rainbows, glowing so bright.
“Checkmate!” declared a fella, eyes half-asleep,
But the queen was just lounging, lost in a leap.
“Dude, that’s not your move,” gasped his opponent with glee,
As he gnawed on a brownie, half-chewed like a bee.
With blunders a-plenty and giggles through rounds,
They played hopscotch with pawns as they rolled on the grounds.
The judge, looking frantic, was swaying in time,
As he counted each victory mixed up in a rhyme.
“Mate in two!” shouted someone, but no one could tell,
If they meant checkmate or just a place to dwell.
So they played to the finish with snacks piled so high,
In this stoned chess tournament, they all learned to fly.
So raise up your glasses, to knights, rooks, and dreams,
A reflection of bliss, where attention just beams.
For the grandest of checkmates was found at the end,
Not in winning or losing, but the laughter they send.
