Checkmate and Chill: A THC Chess Tournament

In a smoky room where the pawns took flight,
A king in his castle was high as a kite.
Queens shuffled slowly, eyes glazed and dim,
They pondered their moves, but some just swam.
“Is it my turn?” chimed the rook with a grin,
“Or just another moment in this game we spin?”

The knights hopped around, in a haze so sublime,
Confusing the bishops, lost track of the time.
“Dude, what’s my move?” asked a player named Dave,
“Is it check, or did I just set up a grave?”
Laughter erupted; they forgot who was winning,
As they guffawed and cheered while the clock kept spinning.

The audience giggled at every perplexed look,
“Hey, what does castling mean?” asked a rook with a book.
As one player pondered a very bold play,
“Bro, I think the board is trying to sway!”
The tournament paused for some snacks and a drink,
“Is that pawns and pizza?” someone dared to blink.

Then came the final, the champion match,
Two grandmasters stoned, with an ultimate catch:
They forgot how to play, yet they were both keen,
To move all their pieces like some kind of scene.
“Do I take your knight?” asked one with a grin,
“Nah, just my munchies, let the games begin!”

In the end, they declared it a stalemate, in fact,
As their chips and the giggles stayed fully intact.
With laughter and joy, they all raised a toast,
“To the art of the game, let go of the boast!”
And so round two beckoned, in a puff of delight,
Where every sweet checkmate ended in flight!
