The Highs and Lows of Growing Green

In a garden tucked away from prying eyes,
I planted some seeds, oh what a surprise!
With hopes of a harvest that’d make me a king,
But instead, I’m just battling bugs with a sling.

First came the germination, a delicate art,
I whispered sweet nothings to play the right part;
But the squirrels in my yard thought it all was a feast,
And my dreams of big buds turned to nibbling beasts.

Next stage was the growing, the sun on its way,
Each leaf turned towards heaven, a glorious display;
But my neighbor’s bad dog saw the plants as a snack,
Now I’ve got nubs where I dreamed I’d have stacks!

Fertilizer? Oh sure! I bought some with glee,
ā€œJust a pinch,ā€ said the label, ā€œYour plants will agree!ā€
But the dose turned my stash into weeds on their own,
Now my pot looks more like a jungle grown prone.

Finally it’s flowering, my chance to delight,
I’m ready for harvest, oh what a pure sight;
But my friend borrowed scissors, then misplaced the blades,
Now my buds look more like unfortunate fades.

With our dreams all entwined, and our patience all seared;
In the end, we’re just seekers of glitter and glee,
While laughing with friends ā€˜round a nice cup of tea!
