Checkmate, Dude: A Stoner's Chess Tournament

In a smoky room where the pawns seem to dance,
A tournament brewed with a hazy romance.
With rooks on the table and bowls filled with glee,
The bishops all giggled, "Did you just see me?"

Knights pranced like horses, all lost in their thought,
"Wait, where are my pieces? Are we playing or not?"
Each player would ponder, their minds in a whirl,
"Is this checkmate, man? Or just a weird twirl?"

The clock ticked on slowly, its hands in a fog,
"Do we move the king? Or just pet this cute dog?"
As time slipped away like the smoke in the air,
One stoner yelled out, "Dude, I’ve been wrong—I'm a mare!"

With laughter erupting, they blasted through rounds,
Checkers, no wait, chess—what’s that noise in the sounds?
At the last moment, someone lay down their peace,
“Checkmate, I think? Or is that just my crease?”
