In the garden where the sunlight streams,
I planted little seeds of greenish dreams.
With dirt beneath my fingernails so deep,
I whispered sweet nothings, as plants did peep.
My neighbor swore he’d share his “ growin’ tips,”
But all I got were wild-eyed, half-baked quips.
“Use water from the fountain of youth!” he grinned,
And suddenly I’m thinking, ‘Is this a sin?’
With fertilizer more potent than my lunch,
I accidentally gave my baby plants a punch.
They grew like gremlins, wild and out of hand,
I wondered if they wanted to start a band!
Each evening I’d check on my glorious prize,
Disguised from prying, suspicious eyes.
But, lo and behold, as I crouched for a peek,
A raccoon squatted down and let out a squeak.
“Let’s throw a party, we’ll have an outdoor bash!”
So I rolled my eyes as he danced on a leaf,
And I pondered my fate — would I face my grief?
But as the days passed and I tended my grow,
I learned a few things, more than I could show.
Like watering plants, not letting them dry,
Or avoiding my neighbor when he’s high as the sky.
At last came the harvest, the moment was grand,
I gazed at my bounty — I’m the proudest in the land!
With a grin on my face, I decided to share,
Thinking of all the friends I could ensnare.
But the raccoon returned, with his party-time creed.
“Forget the friends, mate, I’ve got chips and some drinks,
Let’s light up this garden, create sparks, what do you think?”
